Formatting a SD-card on the 49+: A Don't!
I was wondering if there is an utility to convert fat16 to hpfs without formatting the drive? I've looked up partition magic website, they don't support hpfs anymore :( Partition Magic up to v4 supported HPFS so if you can find a copy on eBay or some such you can convert fairly painlessly.

how to convert fat16 to hpfs without formatting the drive?
'N' makes them FAT16. Using FDISK causes you to lose all the data on affected partitions, the software "partition it" or "partition magic" can change between FAT16 and FAT32 without data loss. Then, use PM to shrink the partition to 2GB and convert it to FAT16. Then create an extended partition using the now-empty 2GB and assign it to a single volume, which DOS will assign to "Drive E:", and format it FAT16. Convert Drive D: to FAT16. Install NT on E:, converting it to NTFS in the process,

Another option would be to just use a 32MB CF card instead of the 4MB card, this would force formatting to FAT16. Also, last time I checked, 32MB was the smallest you can find easily nowadays (not that you CAN'T get 4, 8, or 16MB; they just aren't as availible.) This is the option I would go with,

In my stupidity I let Windows/XP format a 16 Mb CF-card, and it silently converted it from FAT16 to FAT12. Now, my camera will not accept it. (Windows/XP automatically chooses FAT12 for cards 32Mb and less and FAT16 for larger cards - up to 64 Mb, appearently, this braindamage can not be overridden).

I hoped I could format the FAT16 and NTFS partition, reboot and partition/format the rest of the drive as FAT32, install Win98, and then go back and install NT.
